Rotherham Learning Communities

Rotherham Learning Communities is a project that builds on work already begun to develop learning communities in particular areas of Rotherham, by establishing Community Learning Forums.

A ‘Community Learning Forum’ is a group whose membership reflects the widest possible range of service providers, (including public, private, voluntary and community sector representation), as well as representatives from the local community, to ensure that all needs and views contribute to decision making regarding adult learning opportunities.

Community Learning Forums will:

Identify local learning needs
Establish details of existing provision
Promote local learning opportunities
Promote local and national educational initiatives
Identify local priorities
Develop a Community Learning Plan to reflect the needs and priorities of the area
Develop a marketing and promotion strategy to raise the profile of local learning opportunities, including local Role Models
Identify, develop and support a network of local Learning Champions who will then promote and distribute information on local learning opportunities

Communities will benefit benefit from:

Learning and training providers will work together to develop the learning opportunities required by the community
